The Origin of the U WAGEN Experience
People who see our vans immediately notice that they are different. This difference is explained, among other things, by our origins.
No need to take a DNA test to know our origins, it’s a story of love and passion!
The U WAGEN division is part of Camion Unique, a company that has been operating for over 12 years. The Camion Unique team designs and builds emergency and support vehicles, as well as interior fittings for commercial vehicles. It has also built an excellent reputation in the manufacture of food trucks.
The adventure began in 2012. At that time, Pascal, founder of Camion Unique, took his first steps into the world of food trucks, after offering – with some interest – his help to his friend and future partner, Valérie. After a summer spent working countless hours in her truck, Valérie realized that the build quality and initial layout did not allow her to optimize her time or profitability during events.
That’s when Pascal decided to restart the project from scratch. He demolished the existing interior, completely redesigned the ergonomics, and created a new layout. Thanks to this transformation, Valérie could now serve more customers per hour, and the reliability of her food truck means she never missed an event.
It was also the moment when Valérie fell in love with her food truck… and Pascal.
Quickly, the quality and ingenuity of this new design caught the attention of the industry. Demand exploded, naturally leading to the creation of Camion Unique.
Beyond food trucks, the team developed a wide range of expertise: from the development of promotional trailers to gelato bikes, including emergency vehicles and commercial hydraulic workshops.
Over the years, this experience has driven the team to research the most efficient manufacturing processes, the most durable materials for intensive use, and to design electrical and plumbing systems capable of withstanding the stresses and vibrations specific to vehicles. The goal: to deliver a reliable product, compliant with Transport Canada standards, that will retain its value over time.
Meanwhile, the family was growing. It became essential to be able to go on adventures with their little girl. This need gave birth to the very first U WAGEN camper van.
Pascal starts with an undeniable advantage: his team already has a thorough understanding of the vehicle industry. They know which materials to choose, how to do things right – and, above all, what to avoid.
He also has another passion: boats. By renovating several boats over the years, Pascal has developed a love of detail and meticulous work that is found in the nautical world.
Today, all this expertise and sense of refinement are present in every U WAGEN. Whether it’s the design of our electrical system or the insulation of our vans, every choice, every material, and every finish is the result of many years of experience and a deep concern for a job well done.
It is this origin, this requirement, which allows U WAGEN to manufacture vehicles that are elegant, durable and high-performance – vehicles designed to protect their owners’ investment.
